For our late-night readers, get a taste of Rockstar's upcoming Manhunt 2. We don't know much about the game except that it will be crazy. And there will be lots and lots of killing. We're not sure what system is shown in the trailer (Wii, PS2 or PSP), but we're confident that all three versions of this title will look pretty much the same.
The ominous narrator at the end reminds us that the title is not yet rated ... but we're going to take a gander and assume it'll get an Mature rating.

A new concept cell phone from Syntes Studio that's called the "Domino" might be giving the current crop of thin phones a run for thier money. With a retro, 80s style to it, the Domino might be called "
svelte and
sexy" in some circles. Stylish? Yes. Functional? Don't expect to crank out tons of
text messages on it. With such details as what features that will be supported and even what networks it will even run on, don't expect the phone to show up anytime soon (oh, and yes, there are the requisite dots on the keys to complete the domino theme).

As far as "powerful storylines" and "strong well-written characters" go, there haven't been many releases on the DS that we could direct you to. Hotel Dusk works well as an interactive mystery novel, and you could always download the Dubliners eBook -- shout-outs to Moonshell and the Moon Books Project -- but where do you go from there?
Independent studio nDreams is convinced that is has a tale in need of telling and is looking to break into the casual gaming business with Venus Redemption, an episodic adventure targeted at 30-plus-year-old female gamers. The planned immersive title will be plotted out by film and new media writer Kate Pullinger and graphic novelist Gordon Rennie. Catering to its casual audience, nDreams promises that the game will be "extremely easy to play, requiring only the ability to move and left-click a mouse."
Expect to hear more about Venus Redemption this July 5th when nDreams demonstrates the PC/Wii/DS game to potential publishers and distributors.

You've seen the screenshots. Now, see the first footage of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes. The trailer is brief, but it manages to tantalize us with furious ninja action. One thing to note: Let's hope the trailer's cheesy narrator isn't indicative of the game's final voice acting.

GameSpot recently spent some quality time with
Luminous Arc, the strategy RPG
Atlus is
bringing to the US in August, and things are looking good. Of course, all we really need to know is that
Luminous Arc offers online battles -- a feature missing in other popular DS
strategy games -- and even if it were low quality, we'd probably be lining up to give it a go. Character, story, gameplay? That's just
gravy. Give us our WiFi battles!
Luckily for us,
Luminous Arc seems to have it all: an interesting story, both new and familiar SRPG mechanics, and a choice between stylus-based controls and traditional controls. The only issue the folks at GameSpot could find to really pick on -- in this early preview, at least -- is that players can't rotate the camera, which can occasionally lead to some targeting issues. The build available to them didn't seem to have finished voice acting, either, which we assume means that the game will in fact be dubbed. But let's not be picky here. Because it's Atlus, the localization will be effective, and we'll get right into managing everyone's relationships. We're just glad to hear that we'll probably have fun while doing so.

For a company that tends to concentrate on candybars and the occasional slider for its smartphone stable, a double shot of S60 flips in the American market is pretty much a bumper crop -- and that's exactly what Nokia's delivering, officially announcing its own availability of the
N75 and the
N76 today. Notice we say "its own" availability; the N75 has been
livin' it up in AT&T's lineup for a few weeks now but it's been nigh impossible to get one contract-free from the carrier, so Nokia's direct sale is a welcome one for folks that just want to buy one outright. Side by side, the N76 solidly whips its stablemate in the looks department, but bear in mind one critical fact: US-usable 3G data lurks underneath the N75's hood. Pick up the N75 for $429.99 and the N76 for $499.99 starting today from Nokia (including the flagship stores in New York and Chicago) and its distributors.

While not quite a home theater in your pocket, the
NTT DoCoMo F904i from Fujitsu (which, if you remember, was part of the
FOMA 904i launch) at least rocks widescreen action, and that is half the battle won right there. Unveiled in colors including blanche, bordeaux, noir, and champagne -- and sadly not apple green with envy for these great handsets from Japan -- it sports a 3.2 megapixel cam, GPS services, finger-based biometric authentication, and a monster 432 X 240 screen. Of course the screen is really why we're here -- one-seg widescreen TV and all -- and by simply spinning the display, any widescreen formatted show's letterboxed bars disappear.

The
Japanese PS Store has updated
far more frequently than America's. Their selection of downloadable PS1 titles (which still requires a PS3 system) has expanded yet again, with a strong emphasis on SNK's classic fighters:
Guilty Gear
King of Fighters '95
King of Fighters '96
King of Fighters '97
Little Princess: Maru Oukoku no Ningyou Hime 2
Real Bout Garou Densetsu Special: Dominated Mind
Samurai Spirits: Kenkaku Yubinan Pack
Septentrion
Spectral Force 2
Spectral Tower
Suna no Embrace
There's also a free offering on the Store, a demo of
XI, also known as
Devil Dice. While Japanese gamers are enjoying frequent updates to the retro catalog, American gamers haven't had anything new since the release of
Wipeout in March. Of course, that's far better than the sparse availability of titles for Europeans: zero. Hopefully, with the new PSP store arriving this Fall, we'll have better access to these PlayStation classics.

In celebration of the upcoming remake of
Final Fantasy IV, Famitsu decided to remake a vintage interview with producer Tomoya Asano and director Takashi Tokita. No, we're kidding, it's a new interview, but we like giving
Square Enix a hard time about remakery. We do that, and they take our money for games. It's an arrangement we have.
The developers discuss Yoshitaka Amano's remake of the logo, which is "really good." They also talk about the story, which Takashi Tokita is going back over:
"16 years ago I was still a young man so I want to try and see if there's any parts that I feel my inexperience had a bad effect on or maybe I wasn't expressive enough at the time." When asked why they decided to remake
Final Fantasy IV after
III, the two, in unison and without hesitation, yelled "CHA-CHING!" Okay, that didn't happen either.

Ok, imagine this for a second. You're Eric Schmidt -- head of the most powerful internet company in the world, worth $4.8 billion dollars, member of Apple's board of directors... and you don't carry Apple's new cellphone. So what's a brother got to do to get a friggin
iPhone? Check this:
Walt: "... Steve was flashing his iPhone around. I held it for 20 minutes."
Eric mentions he hasn't held it, and doesn't have one.
Walt: "Your a member of Apple's board!
Eric: "No...I'm still waiting for mine."
So either Eric still has his iPhone in pocket-stealth mode, or Steve's totally stiffing his bud down in Mountain View -- we're bummed either way.
P.S. -Walt asked about the
Google phone, which Eric
non-denial denied exists. Instead Eric just talked about phones, platforms, application layers, partnerships with KDDI, LG, Samsung, etc.
