PSP Fan Art Fridays: Final Fantasy Tactics

Do you want to share your PSP-related fan art? Send us an e-mail. A new piece of fan art will be shared every Friday.

Final Fantasy Tactics box art looks gorgeous. It's so inspiring, that we couldn't possibly put up a Final Fantasy Tactics fan art that didn't measure up. Luckily, this week's fan art by Gemiange certainly does. In case the intro didn't clue you in, this piece depicts characters from Final Fantasy Tactics. It showcases both Ramza and Delita, looking quite upset. It looks good enough, that I wouldn't mind seeing this sort of art in the upcoming remake. Great use of lighting and skyline help seal the feeling. If you enjoy this fan art as much as we do, check out Gemiange's deviantART page to see her other fan art. That, or you can let Gemiange know what you think of the art in our comments section.

Echochrome: It’s like being stuck in M.C. Escher’s mind

We're not sure exactly what the title Echochrome means, but after the game is released, it may mean inventive puzzle gameplay. Combining M.C. Escheresque art with Crush-like gameplay, Echochrome should appeal to gamers looking for puzzle games that don't just involve falling blocks. The music in the above trailer really fits well with the game (let's hope that is actual in-game music) and gives it a moody tone. While the graphics are simple, they're unique and actually seem to add to the game. The only thing more twisted than the puzzles in Echochrome, will be your brain after playing it.

Echochrome
is coming to multiple Sony systems. PS3 owners will get it in downloadable form, but PSP owners will snatch this puzzler on UMD.

Destroy All Humans gets a Big Willy for PSP

Filed under:

Destroy All Humans! has done well for Pandemic, and so it's no surprise that the alien with attitude is getting another sequel. The PSP edition will be called Destroy All Humans! Big Willy Unleashed. It's not being developed by Pandemic, but instead Locomotive Games (Cars PSP) is handling the reigns. You'll once again take control of Crypto as he tries to destroy the 1970s by UFO or on foot. THQ's marketing man had this to say:

"The Destroy All Humans! franchise has consistently delivered a unique combination of fun and original gameplay delivering irreverent humor and over the top destruction that has garnered worldwide acclaim and commercial success". He had more to say, but really it just sounded like he was trying to anally probe us, so we ran away.

Destroy All Humans! Unleashes its Big Willy in the first half of 2008.

SWAT: Target Liberty E3 trailer

Filed under:

With E3 coming up this week, developers are already starting to showcase their work. Such is the case with SWAT: Target Liberty, as you can see above. In a lot of ways, the trailer looks like an awful lot like Killzone: Liberation, only with a heavier emphasis on squad tactics. That's fine with us though, since Killzone: Liberation is still one of the best PSP games out there. The perspective also allows you to see what's going on up ahead, and easily plan your next move. Some of the previous SWAT titles received heavy critical praise, let's hope the same can happen for SWAT: Target Liberty when it's released.

Sunday PSP background explosion

Filed under:

Every week, PSP Fanboy brings you new backgrounds to stylize your PSP. Remember, you can save these images directly to your PSP by accessing the site wireless at m.pspfanboy.com. We had a few issues with our Internet connection yesterday, and were unable to put up the explosion. We heard your cries for backgrounds though, and now that our web connection is as strong as a Spartan, we're going to give you just what you want!

Backgrounds after the jump ...

New for PSP: Get selected wallpapers delivered automatically to your PSP via our new RSS feed.

First up we have this super stylish Cowboy Bebop background. We never get sick of seeing Spike and the gang, so we'll gladly rock this background.

Next we have a Resident Evil 2 background. Can you remember when Leon was still a rookie?

Even someone who isn't a car person can marvel at the beauty of a Ferrari.

Ratatouille is definitely one of Pixar's best movies. It's surprising how inspiring a rodent chef can be.

Lastly, we have a Tony Hawk background. If you plan on doing aerial skateboarding stunts like him, just make sure you take your PSP out of your pocket.

Worldwide PSP releases for the week of July 8

Filed under:

Every week, PSP Fanboy gives you the release list of what's coming out for the PSP worldwide. If a game is listed as coming out in a different country from where you live, don't worry. Your PSP can play games from any region. While most of the gaming world pays attention to the new E3, a few brave companies have decided to still release games this week. It's not a huge list, but there are a few promising titles coming out.

US Games

EU Games

Asian Games

Release dates may always change, so you may want to call before heading to your local game shop.

Namco Bandai announces E3 PSP lineup

Filed under:

The new E3 is just around the corner, and that means that publishers are sending out lists of their E3 slate. Such is the case with Namco Bandai. On the PSP front, we can look forward to seeing the fan favorite RPG Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, the tennis champ Smash Court Tennis 3, and of course the knuckle headed ninja in Naruto: Ultimate Heroes. There may of course be a few surprises, or behind closed doors presentations, but those three games are certainly heavy hitters. Which of these titles are you most looking forward to seeing more on at E3?

Rockstar thanks supporters

Filed under:

Rockstar has taken time to thank the concerned fans, who e-mailed them about Manhunt 2 being halted from release. "We wanted to thank everyone who has taken the time to contact us about Manhunt 2, which we had been planning to release on PlayStation 2, PSP and Nintendo Wii." Rockstar's response continued, "As you know, Manhunt 2 was effectively banned around much of the world, after it was refused certification in the United Kingdom, prohibited in Ireland, and denied an M rating in the United States."

"We are very proud of Manhunt 2 and believe it builds on what the team accomplished with the first title in the series. The game was developed as a horror experience, and to be an M rated title, aligning it with similar horror content created in other forms of media. Unlike many other people, we do no think videogames should be singled out for special treatment from authorities. We hope to have more information for you soon, but in the meantime, we wanted you to know how much we value all of your messages of support."

We couldn't agree more, all forms of entertainment should be held to the same standards. Let's hope it isn't long until that ideal becomes a reality.
